These bacteria utilize the hydrocarbon emulsion produced by AQUAQUICK 2000 as a source of carbon to fuel their metabolic processes. This leads to the conversion of the emulsion into harmless substances such as CO2 (carbon dioxide), H2O (water), biomass, and energy. This process is aerobic and requires oxygen for it to occur.

The History of AQUAQUICK

The roots of AQUAQUICK can be traced back to the formation of TKF (Twentsche Krijt Fabriek) in 1957. At the time, the company was producing various forms of chalk, including those for school boards and textiles. One of the company’s innovations was a yellow coating for school board chalk, created by Henri de Vries.

Henri de Vries also developed GARBOSOL, a patented textile marking chalk that could be easily removed with water. This product was widely sold across the globe. In response to the increasing demand for environmentally friendly and user-friendly cleaning solutions, Henri de Vries and the University of Twente partnered to create AQUAQUICK 2000. The product was launched in 1988 and has since been tested and evaluated by independent international research institutes worldwide. These evaluations ensure that AQUAQUICK products are both safe for the environment and for those using them.

Since 1998, AQUAQUICK 2000 has been the leading cleaning solution for road surfaces after oil spills in the Netherlands. The development of AQUAQUICK was focused on the physical and biological processes that form microemulsions and enhance the biodegradation of hydrocarbons.
